Why Our Work Matters

Public confidence in the American justice system remains a significant concern. According to a national survey published by Equal Justice Works on April 14, 2026, 79% of surveyed Americans perceived the U.S. justice system as unfair. The survey also found that 62% believed that income affects whether courts deliver fair justice, while 49% believed that race affects fair outcomes. These findings reflect public perceptions and underscore the importance of examining fairness, access to legal representation, and equal treatment under the law.

Incarceration and Criminal Records

The scale of incarceration and the lasting consequences of criminal records raise important questions about fairness, rehabilitation, and equal access to opportunity.

Research published by The Sentencing Project has estimated that approximately 2.2 million people are held in U.S. jails and prisons, while an estimated 70 million to 100 million Americans have some form of criminal record. These records can create significant barriers to employment, housing, education, and economic stability, including for individuals who were arrested but never convicted.

Inside Justice and Politics seeks to examine these issues through objective research, careful review of documented evidence, and analysis of existing laws and legal procedures. Our work recognizes the importance of due process, accountability, public safety, and the protection of individual rights.

Our Approach: Beyond Marches and Rallies

We recognize the role public demonstrations can play in raising awareness. However, our primary focus is different.

Our work is centered in the boardroom, the research process, and the courtroom.

We aim to bring together professionals who can examine complex legal questions, identify potential institutional shortcomings, evaluate evidence, and develop practical strategies for addressing concerns through lawful and established processes.
